Today's Workout (10/28/08)

I am sitting here icing my foot. It is way too cold to have ice on your foot! It is making my whole body cold. Don't worry, I'm not hurt. My foot has been hurting on and off for a while now, I have a MAT specialist trying to fix it...yesterday he said nothing was weak and told me maybe it was an injury that was having a hard time healing and recommended that I ice it. So I am. I iced it last night and it felt good today! Not sure if it was something the trainer did or the ice but I'll suck it up and keep icing it!
  1. 30 minute cardio class--basic circuits
  2. 25 minutes treadmill--6.5mph (bumped it up to 7.5mph for 5 minutes) Total--2.76 miles
  3. 30 minute cardio class--crazy circuits (this is the difference between my trainer and the other trainers...my trainer comes up with crazy stuff! the other trainers keep it fairly basic)

Today's Workout (10/26/08)

I usually try to take it easy on Sundays, either a rest day or just an easy jog with my husband. But I feel like I have been eating really bad and have put on a few pounds, so I did twice as much as I would normally do on a Sunday. I actually did my "side stepping" workout on the treadmill. Every time I ask my trainer what I should do he gives me some horrible options then says "or just do your side stepping workout" as if it is a normal thing for me to do! I won't do it at the gym because I will look funny, but I did it at home today and almost fell off the treadmill 4 times! I'm not so good at the transition from right to left. I survived though, and it wasn't too bad, I think I could have made it a little harder...
  1. 45 minute outside run--Total--4.08 miles
  2. 30 minutes treadmill--20 minutes side stepping (2 minutes per side, started @2mph w/0 incline, increased to 2.5mph w/ 1 incline, then increased again to 3mph w/ 2 incline), 5 minutes sprints/recover (sprint @8.0mph, recover @3.5mph, 2 sprints)

Today's Workout (10/25/08)

Today I went to my old bootcamp since all the trainers at my gym were in a class and they cancelled theirs. Usually my old bootcamp isn't hard enough, but today it was actually decent. I left there sweaty and tired and feeling like I got a good workout. I still went and ran some more on the treadmill after that but that is because I am still trying to put my angry energy into a workout rather then bitching about everything to my husband.
  1. 50 minute bootcamp
  2. 47 minutes treadmill--7.5mph for 25 minutes, the rest was between 6.5/7mph. Total--5.31 miles. I actually only meant to do 40 minutes, but after 7 minutes I was fiddling with my keys in the cup holder and I accidentally knocked the emergency stop thing off. So I had to restart everything and when I got to 3o minutes I had forgotten that I had another 7 minutes that I had already done! Not that running a little extra is bad or anything.

So for the past 2 weeks the trainer that does my lunchtime cardio class has been on vacation and 2 of the other trainers have been filling in for him for the classes. Having someone different teach the class really made me realize that the normal class just isn't hard enough for me anymore. Plus, it is a CARDIO class, but most of the classes are not a half hour of cardio. If I am taking a cardio class I expect it to be cardio the entire time, I want to walk out of it huffing and puffing and sweating my ass off. Also, I have gotten bored with all the same circuits. They are not exactly the same every class, but very very similar. Also, there are people in the class the only do the class and don't train with anyone, he wants them to do a little lifting so we do it in the class. My attitude is that these people need to pay for a trainer for that! I get all my lifting in with my trainer. When I am taking a class, I really just want to burn as many calories as possible in a half hour! If it isn't going to be all cardio then I could just do my own workout on the treadmill or elliptical. So I decided that maybe I should take some time off from this one class (saves me a little bit of money too!) So I mention this to my trainer yesterday. The reason I even mentioned it to him is because I wanted him to give me some different elliptical & treadmill workouts to do so I am not doing the same 2 over and over again. Now I know they don't want to lose someone from a class, but come on, it isn't like I am not taking other classes or paying a ridiculous amount for a trainer there 3 days a week! Is the $14 dollar loss a week really going to kill them? I don't think so. Anyway, rather then giving me some new workouts he is trying to convince me to still do the class, says they will talk to the trainer and tell him to step it up a little, blah blah blah. I've done this myself before! It only works for a short amount of time. So I guess I'll just come up with my own interval workouts. So irritating. Ok, I'm done venting. I think I need a nap now!

Today's Workout (10/24/08)

I didn't update yesterday...I had an awful afternoon at work. I was so pissed off that I was actually shaking. Luckily, I had a training session right after work where I was able to work off some of my anger, although it needed to be WAY longer for all the anger I have inside of me! We started out doing a normal training session. then about 5 minutes into it I said "can't I just hit something?" So that is what we did! punching, kicking...I got to beat of my trainer for a half hour, well, sort of. The funny thing is, I didn't expect to be sore from that at all today, but my legs and back are totally killing me! So, the way to get me to have an incredible workout...get me really really pissed off!
  1. 10 minutes treadmill--6.5 mph. Total--1.09 miles
  2. 30 minute cardio class
  3. 10 minutes treadmill--7/7/5 mph (I run fast when I am mad!). Total--1.25 miles
  4. 30 minute personal training session---beating the shit out of my trainer, I mean kickboxing drills :) Normally I hate kickboxing, today it was the best!
